Review from Recorder Magazine (Spring 2021) for P707 Soprano Recorder Solo Book & P714 Alto Recorder Solo Book:

These two volumes, each with a different selection of pieces, are a cornucopia of music from the 13th century to pieces composed during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are works from many well-known collections, such as Der Fluyten Lust-hof, Telemann’s Fantasias (flute, violin and bass) and Playford’s The Dancing Master, and from less familiar collections. There are complete sonatas by Bach, Boismortier and Heberle, preludes by Hotteterre, 19th-century composers, including Gariboldi and Diabelli, modern compositions by Victor Eijkhout and John McLellan; and this is only a taster of the contents. Each contains over one hundred pieces of music, is spiral bound and the music is clearly laid out. There are helpful notes, such as Hotteterre’s Table des agréments and original keys are given where a work is transposed. I will be returning to these again and again, and although I already have many of the pieces, it is wonderful to have such a wide-ranging collection, ready on my music stand. Highly recommended and excellent value.
