Frankfurt 1674. Clamor Heinrich Abel served as a court musician in Hanover and Celle in Lower Saxony, and as a town musician in Bremen. The Abels were a famous family of musicians active in northern and central Germany throughout the 17th and 18th centuries.

The original title page specifies “with four instruments and basso continuo” but only Violins 1 & 2, Viola and harpsichord (bc) survive. The publishers have supplied the missing fourth part using the unusual harpsichord part. In the Second Suite, an obbligato bass part appears to be missing and this is supplied in the manner of the three upper parts. First modern edition.
