Composed by Alan Rawsthorne and edited and arranged by the late David Ellis. Rawsthorne wrote the piece for the 1961 Stratford-upon-Avon production of Hamlet and here Ellis highlights the substantial elements of the score: the sad and wistful 'Ophelia', the 'Dumb Show' which expresses his uncle's betrayal, and finally the reprise of the 'Danish March'. Beautiful and evocative.
