This edition contains all 32 dances from Widmann’s 1618 publication Gantz, Neue Cantzon, Intraden, Balletten und Courranten, published by Abraham Wagenmann in Nuremberg. The complexity and inventiveness of many of the pieces are apparent, showing an advanced musical talent pointing toward later works by Schein and other early baroque masters. The first thirty pieces are quintets; the final two are 4-part Courantes. The Altus part is provided in both G-Clef and 8vb G-Clef, the Tenor in both G- and C-Clef.
