Little is known about the life of French harpsichordist, violinist, and composer Charles Dieupart. The son of a Parisian candlemaker, Dieupart is known to have settled in London around 1700. A prominent member of the Drury Lane musical establishment, Dieupart was active both as composer and performer, and actively participated in the musical life of the city. His popular Six Suittes de Clavessin were published in 1701 and soon after reissued for violin or recorder (voice flute & fourth flute) and bc.
Alan Davis provides an interesting and detailed foreword to each volume.
