These three suites, including many dances, were written in 1717 to entertain George I and his court on a trip up the Thames from Whitehall to Chelsea and back.
The original orchestration was for trumpets, horns, oboes, bassoons, flutes, recorders, violins and basses (some wind instruments probably doubling), but Andrew Robinson has here arranged the music for playing by recorder groups.
Book 1 contains the first suite and Book 2 the second and third.
